193 students of the Tamale Technical University (TTU) have been rusticated for Examination malpractice after a committee set up to investigate the matter.
According to a press statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Osman Mubarik Abu a committee was set up to find out if the students breached statute 51 of the statute of the Tamale Technical University and also to look into various examination malpractices for the 2021 second semester examination period.
The statement said some of the offences found included bringing foreign materials into the examination room which included; mobile phones, electronic wrist watches, handwritten notes on pieces of the papers, written inscriptions on veils, scarfs, handkerchief, bodily palm, and thigh.
It added that some recommendations were made after a full-scale investigation into the malpractice was done.
The statement said the Academic Board at its meeting on 15th December 2021 upheld the recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee to rusticate the 193 students of the University who were involved in various examination malpractices during the 2021 second semester examinations held from August 30th to September 20th, 2021.
The recommendations added that the students each must be rusticated for two semesters (one academic year) beginning from the next semester of the 2022 academic year and the papers in which the malpractice had occurred canceled.
It further stated that the students who were found, in breach of Section 9 ‘Schedule P’ of the Tamale Technical University Statutes by the Committee will also be rusticated in line with Section 28 ( c ) of Schedule ‘P’ of the Statutes of the Tamale Technical University.
