that keeps him moving forward.
Hayapawa Music
Abraham Amartey Akpey, professionally recognized as Hayapawa, was born on May 6, 1995, in Tema, within Ghana’s Greater Accra Region. His formative years were shaped by the discipline of his father, Joseph Akpey, a seasoned seafarer whose life at sea epitomized endurance, and the entrepreneurial ingenuity of his mother, Jennifer Akpey, whose ventures instilled ambition and adaptability.
This dual influence forged in him both resilience and vision—qualities that would later define his artistry.
He began his academic journey at Creator School Complex, where he completed his primary and junior high education, before advancing to Ghanata Senior High School (SHS) in Dodowa. In 2017, he continued his studies in Computer Science at Liaoning University in China. Though excelling academically, he soon recognized a profound dissonance between outward achievement and inner fulfillment. Music, which had always been central to his identity, emerged as his true vocation.
In 2018, he made the decisive choice to withdraw from academia and entered the corporate sector, serving as a corporate trainer with Hewlett-Packard (HP) in Weihai. The role sharpened his leadership and discipline but also reaffirmed his authentic calling—music. By 2023, after years of personal and artistic growth abroad, he returned to Ghana fully committed to his craft.
Hayapawa’s sound is a refined fusion of Afrobeat, Afropop, and Highlife, expressed through what he calls “spiritually charged street anthems.” His artistry is rooted in Ghana’s indigenous rhythms and ancestral chants, yet broadened by contemporary global influences, producing music that is culturally authentic, innovative, and transcendent. His work embodies resilience, prophecy, and truth—music designed to fortify the human spirit while moving both body and soul. On September 8, 2025, Hayapawa released his debut single, “Double Minded Person.”
The record, born of his encounters and reflections after returning to Ghana in 2023, captures his lived experiences with raw authenticity. Every lyric was written by Abraham Amartey Akpey, and the composition and production were helmed by Hayapawa, who also served as executive producer. The single stands as both a personal testimony and an artistic declaration—an immersive exploration of struggle, resilience, and rebirth. Beyond music, Hayapawa is guided by vision, faith, and resilience.
With a professional background in Computer Science and corporate leadership, he remains devoted to innovation and youth empowerment, mentoring others in the pursuit of purpose and direction. Looking forward, he envisions his music transcending borders as both cultural and spiritual export, amplifying Africa’s voice on the world stage. His ambitions include collaborations with luminaries such as Kanye West, Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Ed Sheeran, and Damian Marley while also embracing cross-genre partnerships that redefine creative boundaries.
For Hayapawa, music is never incidental sound but an encounter—an experience that restores courage, speaks truth, and rekindles renewal. Each song is a vessel of prophecy and resilience, an offering to those who listen with openness. Fans can connect with him across Instagram, Twitter (X),
TikTok, and Facebook under the name Hayapawa.
