The National Disaster Management Organisation has confirmed two people are dead after sustaining burn injuries from the Trinity Oil gas explosion in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region Tuesday.
Speaking to Nhyira Fm, the Regional NADMO Coordinator, Mr. Kwabena Nsenkyire indicated the dead, 37-year-old Collins Obeng and a 68-year-old man identified only as John, were among those who were sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Three people were sent to KATH and nine others to the Tafo Government Hospital after sustaining severe injuries in the explosion.
Nine vehicles, mainly commercial taxi cabs and stores also burnt to a crisp in the fire, which threatened to spread to a nearby basic school.

Mr. Kwabena Nsenkyire said he had complained to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) about the location of the gas station but had not seen any action taken. He complained about the assembly giving permit for people to build stores and residences close to the gas station.
