A 20-year-old Labourer has been remanded into prison custody by the Asante Abuakwa circuit court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of Ashanti, for unlawful entry and stealing, at Kobeng near Nkawie.
Ishmael Ayangah pleaded not guilty and will reappear before the court presided by Mrs Philomina Asiedu, on December 3, this year.
Police Detective Inspector Ntim Boadu, the prosecutor, told the court that the suspect Ayangah was an employee of the complainant’s company at Kobeng.
He said on November 15, this year, at about 1930 hours, the complainant arrived home from work and realised that his room had been ransacked.
The complainant detected the theft of his GHc 5,250.00 cash, two mobile phones valued at 2,800 and some personal belongings, valued at GHc 1,450, all totalling GHc 9,500 from his room.
According to the prosecution, the complainant initiated his own investigation and was hinted by a co-tenant that, the suspect and his friend, one Latif, now at large, were seen returning from the room that day.
A report was made to the Nkawie police and the suspect was arrested.
Inspector Ntim explained that the suspect admitted the charges in his caution statement and after investigation, he was charged and brought before the court.
