Sekondi Hasaacas player, Kwabena Baidoo, has been confirmed dead following a motor accident during the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) victory celebrations on Monday, December 9.
Joy Sports understands the forward met his untimely death in the Ellembelle District in the Western Region.
While the family of Baidoo have yet to issue a statement, sources have told Joy Sports the player had been in Accra in the last few months as he was awaiting an opportunity outside the country to continue his career.
Baidoo decided to return to the Western Region last week as the opportunity to travel was delayed. He trained with the Sekondi-based club upon his return to Takoradi.
As part of his civic responsibility, the attacker travelled to Ellembelle on Friday, December 6, to exercise his vote as the 2024 general elections approached.
Following the NDC's victory, celebrations began in the district with Baidoo joining in the action. He, however, crashed and died as the celebrants displayed their motorbiking skills.
While Baidoo is yet to play for the Division One League side this season, he featured for them between 2020 and 2023.
