The National Paralympic Committee of Ghana (NPC-Ghana), in collaboration with the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), has dispatched three para athletics athletes, Botsyo Nkegbe, Zinabu Issah, and Hayford Addai, together with their coach Emmanuel Anum Sowah, to compete at the 2026 Dubai World Para Athletics Grand Prix, scheduled for February 10–13, 2026, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

As part of the team’s phased departure, Coach Sowah is traveling today, February 4, 2026, alongside Hayford Addai, who is making his international debut.

Addai will undergo his first-ever international classification in Dubai on February 6, 2026, to be confirmed as a T47 para-athlete.

Hayford Addai, a teenage arm-amputee sprinter and long jumper in his second year at Konongo Senior High School, has already demonstrated remarkable promise by competing in the Ashanti Regional Interschools Athletics Competition alongside non-disabled athletes.

The Dubai Grand Prix will mark his first World Para Athletics competition, and it also represents the final direct qualifying opportunity for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Zinabu Issah (F57 – Women), will be competing in the Shot Put and Discus Throw at the Dubai Grand Prix, while Hayford Addai (T47 – Men), will compete in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and Long jump, with Botsyo Nkegbe (T54 – Men), also competing in the 100m, 800m, 1500m.

NPC-Ghana is optimistic that the trio will secure direct qualification to join Paralympian Tahiru Haruna, who has already qualified for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Para Powerlifting.

NPC-Ghana expressed its sincere appreciation to the Ghana Olympic Committee for the financial support extended to the team, which enabled it to travel and compete successfully.
