Twenty five singers have been picked from the Kumasi audition for the next stage of Glo X-Factor competition. The next stage of the competition is the boot camp stage, which would be held in Lagos, Nigeria. Glo X-Factor Line Producer, Abigail Clark announced this and expressed delight with the performance of contestants in the Kumasi audition, saying that 70% of the contestants had raw talents that could be molded into brilliance. She noted that they had auditioned singers from different age groups and cultural background who performed a variety of genres like reggae, rap, gospel and rhythm and blues. Clark said the contestants who made it to the Boot Camp would be worked on by choreographers, music producers and voice trainers who would combine to bring out the best in them for the judges to pick those who would qualify for the Judges’ Home Visit stage. The Line Producer disclosed that nine contestants would be picked from the Judges Home Visit Stage for the Live Performance Stage which would involve people phoning in to vote for their favourites. She urged viewers across the world to start watching the singing reality television show live from Saturday, May 18, 2013 to Saturday, September 14, 2013 when the winner of the $150,000 and Sony Music recording contract star prize would emerge. Clark thanked Globacom for giving the team the opportunity to cast its net wide through auditioning exercises conducted across Nigeria and Ghana, adding that they were also on the look-out for singers with interesting true life experiences. The Music Director, Carl Raccah also stressed that from his experience over the years, “there is no African who cannot sing”. “We only need to prepare them psychologically to be less nervous for the latent talent to become manifest in line with the X-Factor franchise,” he said. A total number of 75 singers have now been selected from audition in Port Harcourt and Abuja in Nigeria, as well as Kumasi in Ghana. Meanwhile the Accra audition will hold at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12, 2013.
