The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has announced that the 29th edition of its annual Media Awards will take place at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
This year’s ceremony will be graced by President John Mahama, who is also a full member of the Association, as the Special Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker.
Other high-profile dignitaries expected to attend include the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, and the Acting Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.
The event will be hosted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, marking a historic moment as the prestigious awards move to the revered seat of Asanteman for the first time.
According to the GJA, the Media Awards remain the flagship event of the Association, a platform dedicated to celebrating and rewarding excellence in journalism, while acknowledging the media’s vital role in national development, democracy, and the promotion of free expression.
Members from Accra interested in attending are expected to arrive in Kumasi on Friday, November 7, and depart on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
Applications to attend can be submitted online via this link, with the deadline set for Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at midday.
The GJA has encouraged members to seize the opportunity to witness what it describes as a “momentous celebration of journalistic excellence” at one of Ghana’s most iconic cultural landmarks.
