The tie bar was empty so was the heel bar. Joy was in town at the Soho bar and together with their corporate fans held the Airport City down with a big bang.
The second edition of the Joy Corporate Jam was choked with fun, music and dance by the men, women who few hours earlier had punched keypads with fury, racked their brains behind desks in a desperate effort to meet deadlines, KPIs and a keep for the month-long sweat.
But there they were in their flat shoes, jeans and easy wear, without their usual choking ties, suits and heels but with a voice daring to sing; a fist yearning to punch the air and a feet itching to dance the night away in the cozy ambiance of the Soho Bar.
It was a promise for premium fun at no cost and it was a promise well kept by Joy.
With the delectable hands of DJs Black and Sammy Forson and the baritone, sizzling voices of Nathaniel Attoh and Lexis Bill, the Joy Corporate ‘dinner’ Jam had been served on a Friday night and it was consumed with passion.
It was a cocktail of sounds in no particular order, Hip-hop, R&B and reggae; hiplife, highlife and dance hall all mixed together in a great music and dance festival that left patrons intoxicated for several hours.
The shaku shaku dance swept over the dance floor many times when Shatta Wale took over, on a night that was going to be a good night with Meiway’s Lolo.
Host of the Super Morning Show Daniel Dadzie thought he could dance. He tried, albeit with some few awkward movements. Dancing was never one of his gifts. Talking is. From one patron to another the young talented broadcaster whispered a thing or two into their ears.
With the sounds of music rumbling across the Soho roof, it was going to be a miracle for the morning show host to get his message across but the broad smile and occasional outburst of laughter from the patrons meant Dadzie was hitting the target. His morning companion, Animwa Anim Addo, a soothing, sweet voice in an intimidating body was around to provide artillery support.
In a real corporate environment, uncomfortable touch was a big deal but at the Soho Bar the corporate professionals cared little about the touch from the opposite sex. It was a tight dance, with so much fan.
Sarah of Joy Business was everything Daniel was not on the dance floor.
