The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested three persons at Akatsi in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region for their alleged involvement in recruitment fraud.
The three, Bernard Amenya, 18, Godsway Adzikah, 23, and Godson Wemegah, 21, were arrested on September 14, 2021.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, Public Affairs Officer, Volta Regional Police Command, in a release, said the arrest followed a fraudulent Facebook publication purported to have been created by the Volta Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Edward Oduro Kwarteng.
The release said the said publication was advertising to assist potential applicants enlisted into the Ghana Police Service.
It said preliminary investigation has revealed that many victims have paid various sums of money to the fraudsters with the hope of being favoured in the ongoing recruitment process.
The Command is not responsible for recruiting persons into the Service; as such, desperate applicants should be wary of protocol allocations being offered all over the place, the release said.
It said the Command remained resolute in pursuit of recruitment charlatans in the Region and has arrested a total of five suspects in the past weeks.
The release urged persons who had fallen victim to the said scam to report to the Command to assist in investigation and prosecution.
