The Ashanti Regional Police Intelligence Unit and Anti-Robbery Squad have arrested three robbery suspects after a special operation at Atasomanso in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects Dominic Afriyie, 28, Frederick Achar, 26 and Richard Simpson, 23 were arrested on Friday December 31, 2021.
In a statement to announce the arrest, the police said it embarked on monitoring and surveillance operations following intelligence gathered that a gang of robbers were planning to rob some residents of Atasomanso and its environs.
During the surveillance operations at about 2:30 am, the patrol team on duty intercepted a Toyota Corolla taxi cab with registration number AS 5970 – 20 at Atasomanso with four occupants onboard suspected to be a gang of armed robbers.
A search in the taxi and on the three suspects led to the recovery of two foreign pistols, Blow F92 and a Revolver, two shotguns concealed in the booth of the taxi and some mobile phones.

According to the police report, in the process of arresting them, the driver of the taxi cab bolted.
The three suspects are currently in Police custody assisting with investigation. Police have said strenuous efforts are underway to arrest the suspect driver who bolted away.
The service assured Ghanaians that it will continue to work hard to rid our society of criminals.
