Former First Lady and founder of the 31st December Women's Movement, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings says the movement will lead women's groups in the country to stage a demonstration when Ghana hosts the AU summit in July.
Nana Konadu says the demonstration will draw attention to what she calls harassment of women's groups by the NPP administration.
The demonstration is also to protest the prevailing socio-economic hardships.
Nana Konadu was addressing members of the Movement at a seminar in Ho to mark its silver jubilee.
She told Joy News’ Agbeko Ben Coffie that one of the objectives of the summit is to draw attention to women’s plight and the Movement will take advantage of that to draw attention to abuses in the law and harassment of women, particularly members of the Movement and others sympathetic to its cause.
She said presently, what pertains in the country is that the law is applicable only to opponents of the ruling government.
Nana Konadu urged chiefs and traditional rulers to be bold to point out wrong to the political leadership.
