Ghana’s total validated road network stood at 94,203 kilometres at the close of 2025, with 44 per cent of these roads in good condition, Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Agbodza has disclosed.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Joy FM on Wednesday, January 28, Mr Agbodza said 34 per cent of roads are rated fair, while 22 per cent remain in poor condition.
"As of today, the road network characteristics say that the length of road within our inventory is 94,203. Out of that, 44 per cent is in good condition, 34 per cent is in a condition we call fair, and 22 per cent is in a condition we call poor," he stated.
He added that the data was collected “as of the close of 2025” and noted that a broader dataset covering about 137,000 kilometres is currently undergoing validation.
The minister highlighted that these figures reflect the government’s ongoing focus on road maintenance and rehabilitation to improve transport infrastructure and safety nationwide.
On the government’s efforts to revamp the sector, Mr Agbodza revealed that over GH¢10 billion in arrears had been paid to road contractors across the country by the end of December 2025.
