In recent times, weight loss is being taken more seriously than our forefathers did centuries ago. People have become 100 times more health and fitness conscious that manufacturers of weight loss pills can simply not have enough.
Most people – both men and women - now want to look trimmer, fitter and physically attractive so they will stop at nothing until they achieve their perfect and desired size. And when I say they will stop at nothing, believe it...nothing.
The quickest way to weight loss is to increase your metabolic rate and burning calories. Thankfully you can do that just by making a few adjustments to your diet, thus eating Thermogenic foods. Yeah...it’s a big word but it does very simple things in your body.
Thermogenesis is the process in which the body burns calories to digest food. Thermogenic foods, thus, helps to enhance the process of weight loss by burning up more calories when they are digested which in turn boosts metabolism.
So you can ditch all the weight loss pills and take a natural approach to your weight loss strategy by doing these:
1. Taking coconut oil
Coconut oil is one of the few foods that are classified as superfood. Its unique combination of fatty acids has amazing benefits for the body. The fatty acid contained in coconut oil is used by the body for energy. A study published n the European Journal of Nutrition indicates that combining coconut oil and chilli pepper in a meal increases thermogenic effects by 50 percent. This means that this coconut-chilli blend breaks down calories 50 times faster.
2. Green Tea
Drinking green tea daily is a good way to increase metabolism and burn calories. This is because green tea has been shown to increase fat burning and boost the metabolic rate, in human controlled trials. In one study in 10 healthy men, green tea increased energy expenditure by 4%. Another study showed that fat oxidation was increased by 17%, indicating that green tea may selectively increase the burning of fat.
3. Spices
As mentioned earlier, spices like chilli, garlic, ginger, turmeric, horseraddish and cinnamon are all calorie-burning spices that can naturally boost your metabolism. Spices not only just excite your taste buds but are composed of an impressive list of phyto-nutrients, essential oils, antioxidants, minerals and vitamins that are essential for overall wellness. Spices have been integral part part of our food since centuries, and today, even become more relevant for us. These spices boost your metabolism and help you burn fat quickly.
4. Water
Dehydration can slow down your metabolic rate, so staying well hydrated by drinking adequate amounts of water during the day is a good way to boost a sluggish metabolism. According to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, drinking water can increase your metabolic rate for up to 40 minutes. It was estimated that if you increase water intake over a year by 1.5 litres a day, you would burn 17,400 extra calories and lose around 2.3 kg.
5. Protein
Lean meats like lean beef, chicken and turkey help to speed up the metabolism and burn more fat simply because they require so much energy for complete digestion. Studies have shown that people who follow a high-protein diet burn twice as many calories after a meal as people who follow a high-carbohydrate diet.
