A man in his late 40s has been arrested at the Gomoa Dominase Onion Market for allegedly killing a 50-year-old woman, identified as Habiba, at Gomoa Potsin in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
Sources say the suspect allegedly attempted to rape the victim while she was on the phone with her son at the time of the attack.
According to information gathered, the woman reportedly told her son that someone had attacked her and was attempting to rape her.
The son is said to have recognised the suspect’s posture and raised an alarm, which later led to the arrest of the suspect.
In an interview with Adom News, some eyewitnesses alleged that the suspect pressed the woman’s neck, leading to her death.
Eyewitnesses further stated that Habiba sold cow milk and was on her way to purchase milk from Fulani herdsmen when the suspect reportedly met her in a bush and allegedly killed her after she refused his proposal.
Meanwhile, the Chief Imam of Gomoa Ojobi, Kasim Iddrisu, said the suspect has been taken to the Central East Regional Police Command for further investigations, while the body has been conveyed by the police.
