A 56-year-old man has been arrested for beheading a 70-year-old farmer at Akpafu-Menpasem in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta region.
The incident which occurred during the early hours of Tuesday has left residents of the community in a state of shock.
The culprit, Emmanuel Kadidze, was said to have murdered Samuel Okiti, who was on his way to the farm and dismantled the body parts.
Mr Kadidze who is reported to have been battling a mental condition was seen loitering about the community with the victims head in his hand.
This drew the attention of the residents, who started beating and almost lynched the culprit.
It took the timely intervention of the Police to rescue the culprit and escorted him to the Hohoe Police Station where he has been locked behind bars.
The Hohoe District Commander, Superintendent Stephen Boadu, who confirmed the news to Joy News' Fred Quame Asare said they have commenced investigations into the incidence and can't ascertain the fact that the culprit is mentally ill until investigations prove so.
