The 9th edition of the Italian Cuisine Week in the World to showcase Italy’s rich culinary heritage was celebrated in Accra, Ghana.
The event held at Pomona restaurant in Accra is a global flagship initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, that celebrates Italian cuisine and wine at embassies globally in November each year.
Organized in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), the Italian Cuisine Week has been a useful diplomatic tool in bringing to the world an important aspect of Italian life - its food and wine.
This year’s Italian Cuisine Week emphasised sustainability and innovation, fostering connections between Italian and Ghanaian communities.

Speaking at the event, Italy’s Ambassador to Ghana, Daniela d’Orlandi, stated that the initiative is a platform to promote the Italian agri-food chain.
“We are celebrating the 9th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World. It’s a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, which means that every year in November we are celebrating Italian wines and cuisine in all Italian embassies and consulates around the world.
The Italian Ambassador emphasised its focus on blending tradition, innovation, and sustainability through food and cultural diplomacy.
“The purpose of this event is to bring together people from the Canadian community, from the Italian community to share our culture. And it’s also a networking event, because there are many representatives of the business community, of the media, of different sectors of society that can connect and strengthen the bonds of friendship and collaboration between Italy and Ghana,” she said.
Expressing gratitude as her tenure ends, Ambassador Daniela d’Orlandi praised Ghana’s hospitality.
“I felt very welcomed, and I thank Ghana for making my time here wonderful,” she added.
The event brought together Ghanaian and Italian business leaders, diplomats, media personalities, and wine enthusiasts to enjoy Italy’s finest culinary offerings.
There were amazing performances by Ghanaian musicians Fameye and Anabel which further lightened up the event, celebrating the unity of Italian and Ghanaian communities through music and entertainment.
