The Minority in Parliament will, in defiance of the party’s directive, attend President John Mahama’s State of the Nation Address Thursday.Party leadership directed the minority caucus to sit out of the address in protest of the conduct and outcome of the 2012 elections.The party is contesting at the Supreme Court the results of the 2012 presidential election, which it claims was fraught with irregularities.Its leadership has therefore directed the MPs to boycott any events or duties directly relating to the presidency.Accordingly, Minority MPs boycotted the vetting of the ministers appointed by President Mahama amidst criticisms from the general public.There were initial reports that the MPs would again boycott Parliament when the president appears to deliver his State of the Nation Address.After a caucus meeting on Wednesday, however, Minority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu told Joy News’ Elton John Brobbey, “we will see the members in the House tomorrow.”Brobbey reported that the caucus would be meeting with party leadership later in the day to communicate its decision to them.
