Minister of Trade and Industry Haruna Iddrisu has declared that President John Mahama will deliver on all the issues he enumerated before Parliament in his State of the Nation Address by the end of this year.
On Thursday, President Mahama gave an account of the state of nation and outlined his vision for the coming year in Ghana.
The address covered four “pillars”, namely putting people first, establishing a strong and resilient economy, expanding infrastructure and ensuring transparent and accountable governance.
Analyzing aspects of the address on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Friday, Mr. Iddrisu encouraged Ghanaians to keep copies of the president’s address so that they can interrogate his progress on the promised improvements.
Addressing the need to put people first, Mr. Iddrisu stated that the “president is dedicating his four year term to improving the quality of life of the Ghanaian.”
“You are talking of infant and maternal mortality, it’s about people. How do you improve maternal healthcare? How do you ensure that Ghanaian children don’t die of six childhood killer diseases? When the details come out, we will follow through how will achieve each of the things that the president has announced,” Mr. Iddrisu said.
Details of how the president’s goals will be achieved are to be spelled out in the government’s economic policy and budget statement, which the Minister of Finance will read on the floor of Parliament in a couple of weeks, the Tamale South MP reported.
He assured Ghanaians that the government is determined to build the fundamental structures that will ensure economic transformation and make Ghana more inviting to private sector investment.
