An accused person standing trial for allegedly possessing narcotic drugs bolted Thursday just after the Ho Circuit Court adjourned his case for two weeks.The accused, 22-year-old Justus Donyo, scaled the court’s security wall after he used his hands to break the louvre blades in the courtroom and jumped through the window.Prison wardens, policemen and officials at the court gave chase, but to no avail.Donyo had pleaded not guilty to the charge of possessing a narcotic drug.The Prosecutor, Sergeant Henry Dery, had told the court that police arrested Donyo with a quantity of leaves suspected to be Indian hemp during a dawn raid in 2012.He added that the police are awaiting a report from the Police Forensic Laboratory, which is conducting a test on the substance.Just when the case was adjourned, Sergeant Dery called Donyo, who was in the dock, to come out so that he could be handcuffed and sent back to Ho Prison on remand.At first, the accused appeared to move towards the prosecutor but then suddenly broke six of the blades before jumping through the window at 10:20 am, surprising the entire courtroom.The incident brought proceedings in the court to a halt for some time as security personnel and the court officials joined in the effort to re-arrest the accused.
