Yinson Production West Africa Limited, the operators of the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) Floating Production Supply and Offloading (FPSO) has donated sporting kits to six public schools in Apowa and Kejabil communities in the Western.
The company has also commissioned a new toilet facility in Kejabil as part of its social responsibility to invest and improve education in its area of operation.
At a ceremony which took place at the kejabil MA Junior High School, officials of Yinson Production handed over the sporting kits to representatives of the Kejabil MA JHS, the Kejabil MA Primary School, the Arthur Fischer JHS, the Arthur Fischer Primary School, the St John Methodist JHS and the St John Methodist primary School.
The kits consisted of a range of sporting equipment including table tennis boards and accessories, footballs, netballs, volleyballs and jerseys.
“Yinson is a firm believer that sports has a positive effect on children’s all round development, and that it impacts their ability to learn,” said Mr Edward Mensah who represented the company.
Mr Mensah also commissioned a new toilet facility in the Kejabil Junior High School, which will be shared by the Kejabil Catholic Primary School. The new facility will serve approximately 600 children and 30 teachers.

He said the company decided to build a toilet facility after they were informed the existing one was not functioning properly.
“I found out that the school children sometimes left the school with the excuse that they want to use the washroom – but they do not return!” said Mr Mensah
“We hope that building this facility will keep the children in school during school hours and help them focus on their lessons,” he continued.
He added the donation will go a long way to improving the areas where it operates.
Yinson Production was awarded the contract by ENI Ghana and its partners in January 2015.
The FPSO is currently producing oil and gas from the OCTP block and will help supply power to Ghana for many years, contributing significantly to Ghana’s energy needs and economic growth.
Yinson’s operation is based largely in Kejabil, about 10km from Takoradi.
