Unfortunately, on many occasions these marriages turn sour with some women being killed by their own lovers. As the world marks international women’s day, Joy News’ Fred Smith takes a look at the many spousal murders that have taken place in the country and reports the situation is dire. He cited a study titled “Deadly Relationships and Toxic Bonds” which reveals that nearly 60 spouses have killed each other as a result of small misunderstandings. “A recent example is a tie and dye dealer who set his wife ablaze over the week-end,” Smith stated. Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi say the hospital has recently been overwhelmed by the huge number of injuries from domestic violence.
