The School Management Committee (SMC) of the Ejsu District Assembly Experimental Basic Schools, has called for the expansion of facilities at the schools to ensure effective academic work.The Committee explained that lack of adequate structures, especially classrooms, was hampering the smooth delivery of quality education, and asked the Ejisu-Juaben District Assembly to assist the schools to improve upon the current situation.Mr Oppong Bening, Chairman of the SMC, made the call at a meeting of the Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA) of the schools at Ejisu in Ashanti.He said whereas the schools' enrolment kept soaring, the facilities, some of which had not seen any major renovation since 1990 remained the same.This, he observed, had created congestion in the classrooms, which could be inimical to the health of pupils and students, as well as their education."Most of the facilities we are using now were constructed by some churches and philanthropists so many years ago and we believe the time has come for the Assembly to also play its part since it has an oversight responsibility over the management of the schools," Mr Bening stated.Mr William Manu, Headteacher of the Ejisu D/A Primary School, admonished parents to invest in their children's education to brighten their future.Source: GNA
