Antrak airline is set to begin domestic flights to the Upper West Region in May this year. This was disclosed by former Upper West Regional Minister, Bede Ziedeng. According to him, the deal with Antrak came after negotiations between the domestic airline and the parliamentary caucus in the region. The airline is expected to fly twice in a week to the region, he hinted in an interview to Joy News. “Those using other means of travel spend not less than four hundred Ghana cedis for a round trip to Accra but it will be more economical to use three hundred Ghana cedis to do same when taking a flight”. He said the airstrip is very safe and can support many more flight activities, adding, the president came to the region en-route to Bole with the presidential jet and three other planes which were comfortably accommodated by the Wa airstrip. He said if flights are used, it will reduce considerably the number of hours spent on the road. He urged the people of the region to take advantage of the situation and make the service of the airlines a sustainable one. Mr. Bede Ziedeng added that if all things go well, Antrak is expected to pick its first passengers from Wa on the first week of May.
