Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has urged the underprivileged in society not to be despaired by their present circumstances, but rather hope for a better future.
In order to make it in life, he also encouraged them to work to the best of their ability.
Former President Kufuor was addressing thousands of porters and the underprivileged in the society at the annual Joy FM Easter Soup Kitchen on going at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra.
This is the second time the former President has found time to personally be part of the event and inspired the deprived in society.
The former president also charged the young mothers to be careful not to give birth to too many children since that could put a lot of strain on them and jeopardize the children’s future.
He further advised them to take very good care of their children so that the children will have a better life in the future - a better future than what the parents had.
Earlier, participants received medical treatment from a combined team of the Ghana Medical Association and the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana. Those with complicated cases were referred to the Korle Bu teaching Hospital.
Some patrons were also registered under the National Health Insurance Scheme.
The annual event, which is part of the Joy FM’s corporate social responsibility to the underprivileged in society, have over thousands of porters and other vulnerable groups in the society being feted, clothed and given medical care.
