The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) says he feels humbled and inspired by the Honorary International Award in Service and Development conferred on him.
Justice Yao Amegashie is however challenged to give up his best, stating that public service can be rewarding though tortuous when climbing upwards.
He was among several other personalities honored by the Peristrofi World Honorary International award held under the auspices of Sweden’s Institute for Pentecostal Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
The award is given to individuals who have distinguished themselves and helped facilitate positive changes in their countries.
“Service to mankind is service to God and I feel challenged to do more. As long as I live I should continue to serve”, he said.
Mr. Amegashie was instrumental in the establishment of the National Road Safety Commission and helped raise awareness in use of seatbelts whilst he served as the Executive Director.
He also helped transform the DVLA into an authority, and as head implemented several policies including the establishment of private vehicle testing stations, provisional licensing plates and computerization of drivers’ theory test.
