Eighty seven final year students of the Kanton Senior High Secondary School in the Upper West Region have been expelled from the campus for allegedly going to Burkina Faso to swim. The 87 affected students are to stay in the Tumu town and have to come and write their WASSCE exams for disobeying school regulations. The headmaster of the school, Johnson Sarboh said the directive is intended to deter other students from engaging in similar acts of indiscipline.Speaking to Joy News, the headmaster of the school, Mr. Johnson Sarboh said a roll call conducted yesterday revealed that 87 of the students were out of the campus, adding some had traveled to other parts of the country and worse of all to neighboring Burkina Faso without permission to engage in swimming.‘‘Those students who were swimming, if any of them got drowned who would have been [held] responsible? We are saying that if they cannot stay within the school premises, it is better for them to stay somewhere and come and write the exams."I cannot be a watchman chasing students up and down. This action we have taken will serve as a deterrent for the rest of the students who are on campus,’’ he addedThe action by the Head Master of Kanton SHS come just days after over four hundred final year students from the Kumasi Girls Senior High School and over seven hundred Tamale Business school were also expelled from the school for leaving campus during the Easter festivities.
