Some hundred students of the University of Ghana have been arrested by the police for embarking on a march, Saturday. The students, who were mostly from the Common Wealth Hall were picked up at the Tetteh Quarshie for unlawful assembly. The police say the students did not notify them before embarking on the march. According to the Greater Accra Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Freemen tetteh the march was in breach of the Public Order Act. He told Joy News the data and other information by the students will be taken and released subsequently. But the leaders of the march claim the police was aware of their demonstration. President of the SRC Edmund Kombat and who is also a member of the Hall said the march was part of activities to herald their hall week celebrations.
