The Government Hospital Pharmacists Association (GHOSPA) has won a case brought against them by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on Thursday. But the GHOSPA strike continues. On Thursday 17th April, the National Labour Commission (NLC) dismissed a stay of execution application brought by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission. This means that the Commission has no other option than to implement the grading system prepared by the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service. With this ruling, the Salaries Commission is tasked with ensuring further industrial action by the Pharmacists is forestalled.President of the GHOSPA, Stephen Corquaye, has indicated that the strike will continue until the ruling is implemented.“That is just a ruling, it does not show any evidence of implementation by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, so that is not enough to convince our members to call off the strike”, he said.He indicated that the other issue they want to see addressed concerns the market premium. According to him, the Association is waiting for an appropriate correspondence from the Presidency on the issue.
