Mrs Dzifa Attivor, Minister of Transport on Tuesday said the proposed land for the construction of a new Airport at Ningo in the Greater Accra Region was ready for feasibility studies.She said the 16,000-hector land was acquired by Government for the construction of the proposed new airport to ease the pressure at the Kotoka International Airport, Ghana’s only international airport.Mrs Attivor made this known to newsmen after touring the site with authorities of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), Ghana Highways Authority (GHA), the Ningo-Prampram District and the Ningo Traditional Council.She said it was important to start feasibilities on the land to identify its problems or readiness for the project, adding that the land was free from litigation and encroachment.She said the project would take-off based on the recommendations of the team of experts undertaking the feasibility survey.Mrs Attivor said President John Dramani Mahama in his quest to develop the country under the “Better Ghana Agenda,” was committed to ensuring successful project execution.She said the economy of Ghana was growing at a rate of eight per cent and that investors were ready to come on board to support Government to achieve its targeted goals.Mrs Attivor said the airport when constructed would create a lot of jobs for the Ghanaian youth, especially for the people of Ningo and its surrounding villages.She appealed to people of Ningo and Prampram to therefore cooperate with the engineers on site.Nene Kanor Atiapah III, Acting Paramount Chief of Ningo, said the people were anxiously waiting for the take-off of the project and appealed to the Government to fast track the process.He said: “We the people in this area are happy the project is finally about to take-off…we are going to cooperate with the Government.” Mr Richson Nii Teye Appeynarh, District Chief Executive for Ningo-Prampram District, said beyond raising the standards of the district, the project would also open up business opportunities for many Ghanaians.
