The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has accused the Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), George Smith Graham of lacking commitment in resolving concerns of doctors after he postponed a meeting between the two last Friday. General Secretary of the GMA, Dr. Frank Siribour told Joy News that the attitude of the CEO is partly responsible for the deadlock in negotiations to end the over one month-old strike. According to him, it appears that some individuals are not committed to resolving the matter. He recounted that, “on Friday, when we met at the National Labour Commission, the Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission did indicate that there was a report that was supposed to be discussed by the joint negotiating committee.” Dr. Frank Siribour said before meeting at the National Labour Commission, George Smith Graham informed them that the report was not ready and so the meeting should to postpone indefinitely. He wondered why the CEO of the FWSC went ahead to call for the meeting when he knew the report was not ready. Dr. Frank Siribour expressed hope that the GMA and the National Labour Commission will find a resolution to the impasse before they head for court on Wednesday.
