Kwaebibirem Rural Bank has donated two classroom blocks to Asuom Presbyterian Church School at a colourful ceremony at Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem Municipality in the Eastern Region.
The General Manager of the Bank that won the 2018 Emerging Rural Bank of the year, Mr. Michael Agyeibi Agyekum, said on Wednesday that the building of the Kindergarten school blocks was a quick response to the unfortunate torrential rainstorm that hit Asuom and destroyed a lot of property in Asuom including school blocks in June, last year.
Handing over the new block to the Presbyterian Church school in the presence of the Chiefs and people of Asuom, the Board Chairman of the Bank, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, MP of Tema West and a Deputy Minister of Trade & Industry, who is a native of Asuom, said, “Kwaebibirem Rural Bank, Board of Directors of which I am the Chairman, Management and Staff of the Bank decided to give out some of the profit to the benefit of the community. We give this 2-classroom block to our kids for their study”.
Carlos Ahenkorah called on the Chiefs and people of Asuom to revisit the old days of communal labour to support projects embark on by corporate bodies and government.
“This building cost GH₵30,000 and I take this occasion to appeal to Nananom and the citizens of Asuom, let us revisit the old days of communal labour in support of the government and any other project in our towns and villages. Initially, we as a Bank was not expecting to spend so much if the communal labour spirit was there to provide some labour. There are Carpenters, Masons, Artisans of all levels, yet no one was able to come to the aid of the Bank in undertaking this project to reduce cost”, Mr Ahenkorah revealed.
The Board Chairman expressed appreciation to the General Manager of the Bank, Mr. Michael Agyeibi Agyekum and his staff for their hard work and called on natives in and around Asuom, Abaam, Tweapease, Bomso, Kwae, Kade, Pramkese, Boadua, Asamankese and all the operational areas of the Bank to do business with Kwaebibirem Rural Bank because it is the Preferred Bank of Choice and the Emerging Rural Bank of the year 2018.
The Chief of Asuom, Osabarima Ofosuhene Apenteng II, who chaired the handing over ceremony, thanked the Bank for their impressive gesture and assured the gathering that his would do everything within this power with his elders to revive the communal spirit in Asuom to assist in the developmental projects in Asuom.
Rev. George Amo Takyi, the Presbyterian Church Pastor of Asuom thanked the Board, Management and Staff of the bank for coming to their aid when the school went into serious trouble as a result of the rainstorm that destroyed a lot of their school blocks including KG, Primary and JHS blocks.
The Municipal Director of Education for Kwaebibirem, Mr Samuel Otopah Ntow expressed appreciation to Kwaebibirem Rural Bank for assisting Education Service in the Municipality. He called on other corporate bodies in the catchment area to emulate the shining example of Kwaebibirem Rural Bank.
