Police in the Volta Region say they will arrest the Paramount Chief of Nkonya if their investigations prove that the murder of a man from Alavanyo over the weekend was carried out by indigenes of his town.A banana farmer from Alavanyo was last Friday shot in the eye and his body cut into pieces by some men believed to come from Nkonya.The Paramount Chief of the Alavanyo Traditional Area, Togbega Tsedze Atakora, has since called on the police to arrest the chief of Nkonya in compliance with a memorandum of understanding (MoU)signed between the two.According Togbega Tsedze, the memorandum of understanding has been rendered “impotent” because the Nkonya paramount chief has not been arrested.Volta Regional Police PRO, Chief Inspector, Joy Afagbadzi, however, told Joy News the police have begun investigations into the incident but have not come up with any leads as yet.According Chief Inspector Afagbadzi, until the police conclude investigations into the matter, they cannot pick up the paramount chief.He said when investigations prove the people of Nkonya are responsible for the murder, the MoU would be enforced.
