Officials of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the Western region say they have no relief items to support the over 100 people whose homes and shops were destroyed during Monday’s rainsMany residents in Sekondi-Takoradi have been rendered homeless because their properties were destroyed in the rains.Western regional NADMO Co-ordinator Japheth Badu told Joy News they cannot help the flood victims because NADMO has run out of supplies.He said just like any government institution, they don’t have enough resources to meet the needs of the flood victims."As any human institution we have financial challenges to procure items but we have reported it to the national headquarters to supply us with relief items".Mr. Badu added that personnel at the headquarters have indicated that the items will be delivered soon.Deputy Information Minister, Murtala Mohammed said it is very unfortunate relief items for victims in the Western region have been delayed.But he stressed that once NADMO’s attention has been drawn to the matter, the needed support will be provided.
