Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service has disclosed to JoyNews, firemen in the country have no form of insurance premiums paid on their behalf by the country.
In an interview Thursday with Keminni Nyamanni on the Midday Brief, Prince Billy Anaglatey said "as individuals we have personal insurance but not from the service".
This comes on the back of the recent many fires that have gutted six markets all in the Odododiodio constituency of Accra.
The spokesperson of the firemen stated: "I think it's bad and we have to do something about it...".
He however denied this has prompted reluctance among firemen in their response to distress calls.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, DSP Freeman Tettey, has hinted the six market fires are no longer viewed as isolated cases, adding, the police having noticed a trend have intensified investigations.
