Sources close to the University of Ghana say the location of the University makes it prone to earth tremors of different variations.
They said the most prone locations include the Commonwealth, Volta, Legon and Akuafo halls.
Other academic facilities within this region are also said to be susceptible to any tremor like an earthquake of varied magnitudes.
The sources recalled incidences in 1997, where the earth on which Commonwealth and Akuafo halls were sitting began to tremble.
One source said he saw his bed moving and shaking for some time and stopped. Another source said he felt the impact of the tremor while at the corridor of the Akuafo hall.
Areas around the quadrangle behind the Balme Library are also said to be liable to earth tremors.
The University, however, is said to have integrated expansion joints to withstand tremors against the buildings in the University.
