An accident at the Avernor Junction, Kokomlemle, Accra Thursday left one person unconscious while another sustained severe head injuries.The accident occurred about 11:10 am when a motorcycle run into a Nissan March taxi cab.The rider of the motorcycle with registration number M-09-GR 8478, believed to be travelling from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle to Achimota hit the right side of the taxi cab which was heading towards the 355 Faanofa Street.The two riders – a male and a female – sustained severe injuries while the driver of the taxi cab escaped unharmed.The male rider, believed to be in his 30s fell unconscious after the accident and was quickly rushed to the hospital.It, however, took a police officer and eyewitnesses several minutes to convince a taxi driver to convey the female pillion rider, who sustained severe cuts to her head, to the hospital.Blood streamed from the head injuries as rescuers put her into the vehicle to be conveyed to the hospital.An eyewitness who spoke to Myjoyonline.com blamed the faulty traffic light at the intersection for the accident.According to the eyewitness, rampant power outages have caused the traffic lights malfunction.The accident caused a huge traffic congestion at the junction.
