The Lands Commission between 2010 and 2012 generated a total amount of GHC 22,935, 607 in revenues for the Government of Ghana, the Commission has announced. This was disclosed by the Acting Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission Dr. Wilfred K. Anim-Odame at a recently held Annual Review Workshop of the Commission at Elmina in the Central Region. “Even though we had crisis and challenges last year, our revenue performance is very encouraging. I wish to commend the Regional Lands Officers and all Divisional Heads for their efforts in mobilizing this revenue,” Dr. Odame-Anim added. According to him, the workshop was meant to take stock of the Commission’s performance over the years as well as strategize for upcoming years on ways to improve performance and enhance the image of his outfit. He urged staff of the commission to work hard by introducing creativity in their operations, think outside the box in the delivery of services to clients as well as put their shoulders to the wheel to carve a good image for the Commission. The Acting Executive Secretary asserted that to effectively win cases for the Commission, more resources needed to be allocated to the legal department for it to effectively represent the Commission at the courts. The Board Chairman of the National Lands Commission, Nana Adjei Ampofo, warned staff to desist from activities and conduct that could bring the image of the Commission into disrepute warning that the Commission would not hesitate to show those bad nuts the exit. He also hinted that discussions were underway with Parliament to retain a substantial amount of the Commission’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to enable the Commission to undertake projects and procure logistics to shore up its revenue generation.
