Ghanaian music group R2Bees has lost out on the 2013 Black Entertainment Television (BET) award to Nigerian musician Ice Prince.
The Ghanaian duo was nominated in the Best International Act (Africa) category alongside Ice Prince, 2Face Idibia (Nigeria), Toya Delazy (South Africa), Radio and Weasel (Uganda), and Donald (South Africa).
Ice Prince, known in real life as Panshak Zamani was announced winner of the award ahead of the main event scheduled for the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles Sunday night, June 30.
The Chocolate City rapper is winning the award after losing out to Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie and Nigerian Wizkid who were joint winners of that category last year.
R2Bees, made up of Faisal Hakeem (Paedae da Pralem) and Rashid Mugeez (Mugeez), who won Artiste of the Year at the 2013 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, were hoping to make it another win for Ghana after last year's success.
Ice Prince, shortly after winning the award, tweeted that: "We won the BET2013 award at the staple centre LA live!!! Words cannot describe this!! God bless you."
