Several people in the Nyashegu area of the Tamale Metropolis have been rendered homeless after a four-hour heavy downpour.Joy News’ Hashmin Mohammed reports that the rains started around 7:45 pm on Friday July 5, and lasted till 2:30 am on Saturday - flooding many homes in the metropolis and destroying several properties.Officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are yet to visit the affected victims.Victims of the flood have taken refuge with friends and families in neighbouring towns of the Nyashegu community.The community and its environs are noted for flooding during the rainy season.Frustrated victims told Joy News that although their gutters are narrow and choked authorities in the metropolis always look on unconcerned.They have appealed to authorities for help.
