The Ghana Police Service has strongly rejected the 2013 global corruption barometer that places it first on the list of perceived corrupt institutions in Ghana.It is the third consecutive time the police in Ghana have been awkwardly ranked number one in corruption by the global anti-graft agency.Executive Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative, local chapter of Transparency International, Vitus Azeem is worried the Police Administration has not done much to improve the public image of the law enforcing body.But speaking on Newsnight on Joy FM Tuesday, Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur doubted “the integrity of the research” as well as questioned the “method of investigation yielding to that result”.According to DSP Cephas Arthur, tagging the Service as the most corrupt public institution in Ghana, is “to give a kind of authentication to the whole research.”He was however “not in the position to tell the reality or otherwise of the situation [perceived corruption] within the police service.
