The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya constituency of Accra, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has challenged Muslims to use the ongoing Ramadan to pray for Ghana to remain peaceful, after the declaration of the verdict in the ongoing election petition hearing at the Supreme Court.
According to Adwoa Safo, the country was at a crossroad and required courage and uprightness of the judges hearing the case, to keep the peace of the nation intact.
She has, therefore, asked Muslims to use this occasion to ask Allah to embolden the judges in order to deliver a verdict that will be in the supreme interest of Justice and Peace.
The Member of Parliament said these at a short ceremony, when she presented some food items to the Muslim communities within her constituency. The food items include forty bags of rice, ten bags of sugar and ten cartons of milk.
Presenting the items, Miss Safo commended the Muslims for the annual month-long fasting and prayer, which she said is no mean a sacrifice.
Receiving the items, the Imam of the Dome Pillar two branch of the Muslim community, Muhammad Salisu Sulaimana praised the MP for showing active interest in ensuring that the period of fasting, become lighter for the Muslims.
He assured the MP that Muslims will offer special prayers for Ghana to keep its peace intact. He also made a special appeal to politicians desist from making pronouncements that that will antagonize the credibility of the Supreme Court Judges.
Muhammad Salisu Sulaimana said Ghana had chosen the path of democracy which provides specific roles to specific institutions, noting that “all these roles come in league to strengthen our democratic path and hence, the urgent need to respect the roles that everybody plays to ensure the development of the nation”.
Muslims are currently going through a period of fasting which is among the five pillars of Islam. This spiritual exercise is intended to renew and rededicate the commitment of every Muslim to Allah. It is supposed to last for between 29- 30 days.
