Former CEO of the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare has been awarded GHC 60,000.00 in damages for his wrongful dismissal in 2009.He instituted the action after he was asked to proceed on leave upon a change of government in 2009. Prof. Ohene-Adjei was then asked to take over.Nsia Asare had all his entitlements (including car, driver) and salary all withdrawn despite a signed contract which was due to expire in October 2010.The Kumasi Fast Track High Court found the actions of the Defendants (the Ministry of Health, the Board of Directors of KATH and Prof. Ohene-Adjei) wrongful and in breach of Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare’s contract. It therefore ordered the Defendants to “pay all entitlements due to the Plaintiff as at 31st January, 2012 with interest.”
