"Ghana I don't want to go home because I am already home with my family... Ghana is the best place in Africa," were the words of an elated Kirk Franklin as he gave off one of the best performances of his musical career in front of thousands of teeming, screaming fans Saturday night.
The outcome of the 2013 Adom Praiz was one that was already written in the annals of history considering the huge successes the award winning concert has chalked with Cece Winans in 2010 and Ron Kenoly in 2011.
The thousands who thronged the Perez Dome for the concert were in search of one thing, a key thing - renewal - and yes there was an overflow of it because the impressive list of music giants who took turns to rock the stage made sure the show never lacked that!
For the third time in a row, patrons, who filled every inch of space of the 14,000 seating-capacity Perez Dome, behaved like Oliver Twist, as they kept asking for more and who could blame them? Especially on a night where a galaxy of music stars held hands and dramatically sought God's face and glory.
One key thing to note on the night was that, the multitudes who thronged the venue for the life fulfilling concert choked on an overdose of excitement - an outbreak that hit an all time high - since the inception of gospel shows in the country.
Timely and well planned showpiece
The show kicked of early - at 7pm - and clearly the organizers had a promise to keep, one to start and close the show early.
The hip and funky Cwesi Oteng officially set the ball rolling. The young musician had a mission to fulfill, a mission to inject some youthful exuberance into the show from the word go and he did just that!
The fortified and swagger-filled musician exuded unparalleled energy as he dished out some of his delighted tunes including I win, Love Me So and his smash hit God Dey Bless Me. The God Dey Bless Me tune laced with intermittent rap and some exciting dancers got patrons on their feet singing along. It was a perfect warmer!
Next on the bill was evergreen gospel songstress Ohemaa Mercy. The songstress clad in a yellow apparel burst onto the stage amidst wild cheers from the teeming crowd who included Bishop Charles Agyinasare, General Overseer of the Perez Chapel International, formerly, World Miracle International Church; Nana Oye Lithur, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection; and former Minister of State, Mike Gizo.
The prophetic Ohemaa Mercy brought her iconic 'show-womanship' to bear on the night hurling prophetic words at patrons. She lined up some of her widely acclaimed hits including, Menwu Da, Edin Jesus and her award winning song Wobeye Kese.
One could simply not miss her dance antics on stage. The charming musician performed as if the Adom Praiz concert was her route to heaven! She was just full of such infectious energy.
Wild cheers also greeted gospel musician Cecelia Marfo. She instantly turned the Dome into a worship zone ministering spirit-filled songs to the thousands who had their anointed hands lifted high towards their maker.
Cecelia Marfo's voice echoed with such strength and power. The voice was probably filled with the Holy Spirit and she took patrons onto a pedestal where they had the opportunity of totally surrendering their woes to the Almighty God. She ministered some of her renowned tunes including the popular Afunumu Ba.
Music group No Tribe followed Cecelia Marfo's performance. The group's sheer exuberance struck a cord with the audience. The group, made up of Nacy, Lord Osei and their band, looked clean on stage. They beamed broad smiles as the exciting crowd cheered them on.
No Tribe gave the crowd what they were yearning for - their music. They set their performance rolling with Nyame Ye which the thousands who thronged the venue lip-singed.
Song after song, No Tribe threw the Perez Dome in a party mood. They were simply a bunch showstoppers who knew their craft well and they served their patrons a perfect dosage of the songs.
Before they capped their impressive performance with their hit song Bohye and true to their word in an interview on the Airtel Entertainment News last week, the group introduced their crab dance!
The dance was borne out of the proverbial backward movement of the crab. No Tribe skillfully persuaded the crowd to join them execute their new dance and as they gently moved backwards, the crowd, who were busy trying to move with flow cheered and applauded the group.
