The Police have warned all party supporters who have nothing to do at the Supreme Court Wednesday to stay away. Greater Accra Region Police Public Relations Officer DSP Freeman Tettey told Joy News they are poised to keep the peace at the premises of the Supreme Court at whatever cost. The nine Supreme Court judges hearing the Presidential Election Petition will reconvene on Wednesday to seek clarification over issues from the lawyers before giving judgement 15 days later. They will also hear the beleaguered General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie and his compatriot, Hopeson Adorye, both of whom have been summoned to appear before the court for making contemptuous remarks. Prior to the appearance of the two NPP officials before the judges, there has been a sudden surge of solidarity and a seeming nationwide vigils being organised by the party in a prayer of redemption for the two. The police are anticipating the show of solidarity may well lead party supporters to the Supreme Court. But Freeman Tetteh insists the Supreme Court will have no place for intruders. He said if one does not have anything to do there, the person is better off staying at home. "We are not scaring anybody" he cautioned, but added the police are taking precautionary measures so that in case something untoward happens they will be ready to keep the peace.
