The Scholarship, an educational radio contest aimed at rewarding a brilliant Ghanaian graduate with a full one-year post graduate scholarship at the university of Dundee in Scotland, has been launched.The program which will be an hour long contest of quizzes, aptitude tests and debates live on radio, aims at testing the knowledge and resolve of university graduates who seek to further their education in energy studies.The scholarship is to pursue a course related to Energy studies and the winner will decide which of the four disciplines they want to pursue their masters in.The Scholarship is a joint collaboration between Accra based radio station, Joy FM and educational consultancy firm, Go Study Abroad (GSA).Speaking at the launch of The Scholarship on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM, the General Manager of GSA, Mrs Monorvi Asampong emphasized that Ghana's oil find has necessitated the need for students to pursue further courses in Energy studies to be able to manage the natural resource which has been gifted the country.Prospective participants are thus required to submit an essay on the topic, 'Ghana's Oil find, A blessing or a curse' through thescholarship@myjoyonline.com in order to be shortlisted for the radio contest which commences on Saturday, September 28 on Joy FM.Candidates will be evicted weekly till the finale which will determine who wins the grand prize which includes a full year post graduate scholarship to pursue an Energy Related Course at the University of Dundee, Scotland, a return ticket to Scotland, residential allowances, living allowances, books and learning material allowances.Programmes Manager or Joy FM, Kofi Ansah expressed excitement at the new radio contest and emphasized Joy FM's role in not just informing and entertaining its listeners but also educating them.He said The Scholarship will not just be entertaining but will pass knowledge on various topics to listeners and will ensure that one brilliant listener is rewarded with the package to study at the university of Dundee in Scotland.The Scholarship will air on Joy FM every Saturday from 5 to 6 pm.
