It was a tense affair though the clapping, shouting and dancing by the noisy studio audience lightened the anxiety of the contestants as they battled to stave off eviction on the MTN Hit-Maker II contest on television last night.
In the end, there were broad smiles as well as sad looks on faces as Mila and 2 Pesewas exited the contest.
It was an open race when the Prizners duo got the show going. The judges felt the props they brought on stage and the background took attention away from their substantive performance.
The public had a different opinion from what the judges held because Priznerz got a lot of votes to still stay in the contest.
Olevya, K Bee, Koo Ntakara, Mila, Kofi Korea, 2 Pesewas, Kano Z, Rama, Adobea, Trozo and Quabyna then took turns to perform before the judges comprising Bessa Simons, Zapp Mallet and Ofie Kodjoe. Nii Ayi Tagoe of Joy FM was a guest judge.
Special prizes of Nokia phones and gift coupons were awarded on the night.
K Bee grabbed the best performer prize and Quabyna walked away with the prize for the best dressed. Producer-engineer Nana Fynn who works with Olevya, was adjudged the best producer for the night.
It was obvious some of the contestants had organised their own teams of supporters and the noise continued till Olevya, Mila and 2 Pesewas found they had the least number of votes.
The three regular judges saved each of them from eviction so emcee Bola Ray had no option than to rely on the public votes to announce that Mila and 2 Pesewas had come to the end of the road on Hit-Maker II.
Many in the audience felt sad to see Mila go because she came on strong with her rap piece which got most people at the recording to flow along with her.
Two more contestants will be evicted in the next show on Sunday, September 15.
The MTN Hit-Maker II airs on at 7.00pm on Saturdays on Hitz Tv on Multi-TV.
