Chiefs in Manhyia are meeting Thursday afternoon over media allegations that the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II influenced the outcome of the election dispute by bribing the Supreme Court Judges. The allegation, contained in an article published in the New Free Press newspaper was the subject of a newspaper review discussion on Kessben FM, a Kumasi-based radio station on Monday 9 September 2013. In a strongly-worded statement, the Asantehene described the claim as "insulting" and "reprehensible". The statement said the Manhyia Palace would take appropriate steps to protect the integrity of the Asantehene. The Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, who is the occupant of the Silver Stool in Kumasi, is chairing Thursday's meeting to deliberate on the actions to take against the persons who made the allegation. More soon.
