The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has hit hard at the Ministry of Health (MOH) for setting up a Committee to review the registration processes of medicines at the Authority.
The FDA says the decision by the Ministry is ridiculous.
The Health Ministry has set up a Committee to review the process of medicines registration following recent media row between Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited and the Food and Drugs Authority.
The Committee, headed by Deputy Health Minister, Dr. Alfred Tia Sugri, will also investigate the media row between the FDA and Tobinco.
But speaking to Joy News, Senior Regulatory Officer at the FDA, Samuel Asante Boateng, accused some persons at the Health Ministry of promoting this idea for their own parochial interest.
"We are not just working in a vacuum. Whatever guidelines we are using is up to WHO [World Health Organisation] standards", said Samuel Asante Boateng, Senior Regulatory Officer at the FDA.
He said the MOH must rather keep its house in order first.
