Government has cut payment of utility bills to various institutions including hospitals, security agencies and public schools across the country.
A letter intercepted by Joy News from the Ghana Water Company says government will no longer pay the utility bills of Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
The same applies to all public schools, from Junior High Schools to the Universities, security agencies, hospitals and all other institutions that fall under government bulk billings.
This means that the Water Company has been empowered to cut water supply to any of these institutions if they fault in payment of bills.
The directive which was given in January this year, will take retrospective effect when implemented.
Joy News has learnt that the Water Company is currently having series of meetings to adopt a strategic method of communicating this information to the affected institutions.
